Lyf F1 Launched in India - Price, Release Date, Specifications

Reliance Retail on Friday launched the Lyf F1 smartphone, priced at Rs. 13,399. The smartphone will be available from Reliance Digital stores from Friday itself. The company is offering a free Bluetooth speaker worth Rs. 3,000 alongside, and announced a 10 percent cashback offer for Citibank cardholders. Purchasers will also get a Reliance Retail gift voucher worth Rs. 15,000.  

The company is touting several 'smart' features for the Lyf F1, including Smart Ring - which helps locate the smartphone even when it is on silent mode, and Smart Play - which will pause a playing video when the user looks away from the display. The smartphone also offers carrier aggregation that, apart from faster speeds, is claimed to offer better battery life.

Reliance Retail is also touting RCS (Rich Communication Services) services, which offers enhanced rich messaging services on SMS, apart from allowing users to share files and location when on a live call. Like other Lyf phones, it will come bundled with a Reliance Jio SIM card.

The dual-SIM (Micro+Nano) Lyf F1 smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and a pixel density of 400ppi. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC (four cores clocked at 1.52GHz and four cores clocked at 1.21GHz), coupled with 3GB of RAM.


The Lyf F1 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and EIS, apart from an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with autofocus. It bears 32GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Apart from 4G and VoLTE support, the Lyf F1 offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, Micro-USB, GPS, and 3.5mm audio jack connectivity options.

The smartphone is powered by a 3200mAh non-removable battery that is claimed to last all day. It measures 155.5x77.6x7.9mm, and weighs in at 153 grams. Sensors on board the Lyf F1 include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and electronic compass.

Know Apple iPhone 7 Price, launch date, features India

The Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have been announced. They will be available in India exactly a month later, from October 7.

We answer all your questions on what is new, India price, and features.

What is Apple iPhone 7 price in India?

The Apple iPhone 7 is priced in India at Rs 60,000 onwards. Apple has not announced prices of the iPhone 7 Plus for India. We expect this pricing to be at least Rs 10,000 more given that the US price difference is $120 between the two. We will know the final pricing closer to the launch date.


What all were announced at the Apple event?

Apple announced two new phones, the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and the 5.5inch iPhone 7 Plus. There is also the latest version of the Apple Watch called the Series 2, as well as a new wireless headset called the Apple AirPod.


What is new in Apple iPhone 7?

The design is a bit different as the lines have given way to solid colour, among them a matte-finish solid black and glossy jet black versions. Also, the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual camera set-up which makes it look different in the rear. Also, both phones no longer have the headphone jack and will connect to audio devices using the lightning port. The home button now offers haptic feedback and you will feel a buzz from time to time. Both phones will be powered by a quad-core A10 Fusion processor with two high-efficiency and two high-power cores each. Apple claims the battery life will be at least two hours more than the earlier versions.

Is the Apple iPhone 7 price cheaper this time?

Yes, because the iPhone 6s was launched in India with a pricing of Rs 62,000. If you consider that the price was for a 16GB model, buyers will get more value this time as the base model now is 32GB.

So, is the 16GB iPhone dead?

Yes, pretty much. In fact, even the last year’s version will now start from 32GB. While there is no 16GB in the new models, here is no 64GB either. So the price differential from 32GB to 128GB and 256GB will be quite significant. Brace for that.

Is there a 3.5mm headphone jack in the phones?

No, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple has moved on to the lightning port to connect the headphone. However, it understands that a lot of its users will have good headphones with the older pin and hence the new phones will come with a lightning to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter. We can almost hear you say thank God for that.

Do both phones have the dual camera?

No, only the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual camera. The iPhone 7 has a better camera now, but the wide-angle, telephoto combination is limited to the top-end iPhone 7 Plus. However, the iPhone 7 camera now has optical image stabilisation. The iPhone 7 Plus on the other hand has a up to 2X optical zoom and 10x digital zoom.

What is the difference between the two models?

Except for the size, the only differentiator between the two models is the dual camera. And contrary to initial reports, the larger one does not come with more RAM to cater to the needs of the camera.

2016 Ganesh Chaturthi Muhurat, puja vidhi timings of Ganpati Festival

Ganesh Chaturthi falls on the 5th of September,2016.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2016 Puja Muhurut to bring the Vigraha / Idol home is during the Shubh, Labh or Amrit Choghadiya. If you are willing to bring Ganpati Maharaj to your home one day before, i.e. on the 4th September 2016, the best time is between 14:10 to 15:42. The Muhurut for evening time would be the Shubh time which is between 18:47 to 21:42.

The Lord Ganesha Statue or idol installation on Ganesh Chaturthi day, i.e. on 5th September 2016 (Chaturthi Tithi begins at 18:54 on 4th Sept, 2016 and ends at 21:09 on 5th Sept, 2016) can be done at Golden time between 06:28 to 08:00 or Shubh Time i.e. between 09:32 to 11:05. Ganesh Pooja is preferred during Madhyanhana on Ganesh Chaturthi as it is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Madhyahana Kaal. Madhyahna Kala is equivalent to midday according to Hindu division of the day which is between 14:09 and 15:42. The Muhurut time specified above is the best Muhurut to perform the Ganesh Puja and to perform any work. During midday, Ganesha devotees perform detailed ritualistic Ganesha Puja which is known as Shodashopachara Ganapati Puja.
