Know Apple iPhone 7 Price, launch date, features India

The Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have been announced. They will be available in India exactly a month later, from October 7.

We answer all your questions on what is new, India price, and features.

What is Apple iPhone 7 price in India?

The Apple iPhone 7 is priced in India at Rs 60,000 onwards. Apple has not announced prices of the iPhone 7 Plus for India. We expect this pricing to be at least Rs 10,000 more given that the US price difference is $120 between the two. We will know the final pricing closer to the launch date.


What all were announced at the Apple event?

Apple announced two new phones, the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and the 5.5inch iPhone 7 Plus. There is also the latest version of the Apple Watch called the Series 2, as well as a new wireless headset called the Apple AirPod.


What is new in Apple iPhone 7?

The design is a bit different as the lines have given way to solid colour, among them a matte-finish solid black and glossy jet black versions. Also, the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual camera set-up which makes it look different in the rear. Also, both phones no longer have the headphone jack and will connect to audio devices using the lightning port. The home button now offers haptic feedback and you will feel a buzz from time to time. Both phones will be powered by a quad-core A10 Fusion processor with two high-efficiency and two high-power cores each. Apple claims the battery life will be at least two hours more than the earlier versions.

Is the Apple iPhone 7 price cheaper this time?

Yes, because the iPhone 6s was launched in India with a pricing of Rs 62,000. If you consider that the price was for a 16GB model, buyers will get more value this time as the base model now is 32GB.

So, is the 16GB iPhone dead?

Yes, pretty much. In fact, even the last year’s version will now start from 32GB. While there is no 16GB in the new models, here is no 64GB either. So the price differential from 32GB to 128GB and 256GB will be quite significant. Brace for that.

Is there a 3.5mm headphone jack in the phones?

No, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple has moved on to the lightning port to connect the headphone. However, it understands that a lot of its users will have good headphones with the older pin and hence the new phones will come with a lightning to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter. We can almost hear you say thank God for that.

Do both phones have the dual camera?

No, only the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual camera. The iPhone 7 has a better camera now, but the wide-angle, telephoto combination is limited to the top-end iPhone 7 Plus. However, the iPhone 7 camera now has optical image stabilisation. The iPhone 7 Plus on the other hand has a up to 2X optical zoom and 10x digital zoom.

What is the difference between the two models?

Except for the size, the only differentiator between the two models is the dual camera. And contrary to initial reports, the larger one does not come with more RAM to cater to the needs of the camera.

2016 Ganesh Chaturthi Muhurat, puja vidhi timings of Ganpati Festival

Ganesh Chaturthi falls on the 5th of September,2016.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2016 Puja Muhurut to bring the Vigraha / Idol home is during the Shubh, Labh or Amrit Choghadiya. If you are willing to bring Ganpati Maharaj to your home one day before, i.e. on the 4th September 2016, the best time is between 14:10 to 15:42. The Muhurut for evening time would be the Shubh time which is between 18:47 to 21:42.

The Lord Ganesha Statue or idol installation on Ganesh Chaturthi day, i.e. on 5th September 2016 (Chaturthi Tithi begins at 18:54 on 4th Sept, 2016 and ends at 21:09 on 5th Sept, 2016) can be done at Golden time between 06:28 to 08:00 or Shubh Time i.e. between 09:32 to 11:05. Ganesh Pooja is preferred during Madhyanhana on Ganesh Chaturthi as it is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Madhyahana Kaal. Madhyahna Kala is equivalent to midday according to Hindu division of the day which is between 14:09 and 15:42. The Muhurut time specified above is the best Muhurut to perform the Ganesh Puja and to perform any work. During midday, Ganesha devotees perform detailed ritualistic Ganesha Puja which is known as Shodashopachara Ganapati Puja.

Free Wi-Fi at 7 more stations from today

Starting Monday, lakhs of commuters using the suburban railway network will be able to access free Wi-Fi service at seven stations — four Western and three Central. While the service can be accessed at its highest speed for the first 30 minutes, following which the speed will decrease.

Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the service for Churchgate, Dadar (Western/Central), Bandra, Bandra Terminus, Khar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Kalyan on Monday.

To access this service, smartphone users will have to register their mobile numbers on the private telecom operator’s page. Following which they will receive a one-time password (OTP) via SMS. This OTP needs to be entered on the login page following which a smartphone user will be granted permission to use free Wi-Fi for 30minutes. However, the speed will dwindle once the user passes the 30-minute mark.

Though the railways intend to charge users for using the service upon consumption of the free bandwidth, the authorities are yet to work out the payment modalities. “So far, we are not charging users for Wi-Fi, but the speed will reduce,” said a railway official, requesting anonymity.

Stating that Wi-Fi at railway stations is the need of the hour, Khar resident Rohit Desi said, “It’s good that the railways are adding this service. Globally, free Wi-Fi is available everywhere, including malls, railway stations and restaurants. I’m glad that it’s happening here as well.”

Other projects

Prabhu will also inaugurate an air-conditioned dormitory at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and foot-over-bridges (FOBs) at Reay Road, Kings Circle, Kurla (Kasaiwada), Chembur, Karjat and Shahad. The new station building at Borivli, equipped with a booking counter, and a deck area at Goregaon (north-end), with ticketing facility, will allow faster dispersal of commuters.

Happy Bhag Jayegi box office Opening collection

Movie Happy Bhag Jayegi has opened with very low numbers at the box office

The film opened to empty theatres with only 10-15 percent occupancy being reported at most places. On the opening day, the film minted Rs. 2.32 cr at the box office on Friday. Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share Happy Bhaag Jayegi’s box office collections. He wrote, “#HappyBhagJayegi picked up in evening shows… Fri ₹ 2.32 cr. India biz… Biz needs to multiply over weekend to post a healthy total.”


Directed by Mudassar Aziz and produced by Anand L Rai, Happy Bhag Jayegi has shades of Tanu Weds Manu and may get some thrust from positive word of mouth. Made at a modest budget, the film may still pick up some speed in the coming days.

The film that is still holding sway is Akshay Kumar-starrer Rustom. The courtroom drama, which stars Akshay as a naval officer, has already earned over Rs 90 crore at the box office and is still going strong. The film is likely to enter the Rs 100-crore club this weekend. This will be Akshay’s third film this year to earn that kind of money. His Airlift and Housefull 3 had earlier earned over Rs 100 crore at box office.

The other release of the week, UnIndian, also failed to enthuse audiences. Box office collections of this Brett Lee-starrer are likely to be even less than that of Happy Bhag Jayegi. Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro has also run its course and its lifetime collections are being put around Rs 60 crore.
